Beam ready for launch into Port Douglas with Australian-first tourism approach

●     Up to 150 e-scooters to roll into Port Douglas at the end of August

Leading micromobility company Beam, Asia Pacific’s largest micromobility company, will be commencing operations in Port Douglas later this month, bringing its industry-leading e-scooter fleet to the coastal town.

Beam is debuting an Australian-first, a unique operation designed to enhance the visitor experience and tourism in Port Douglas.  

Beam has partnered with resorts and hotels to allow access to Beam’s e-scooter fleet, providing affordable and eco-friendly transport for visitorsand locals alike.

Beam’s service will feature affordable pay-as-you-go rates and subscriptions for regular users.

The service will appeal to locals, tourists and families alike, with a minimum riding age of 16years, or 12-plus with a parent or guardian. Every ride will be covered byBeam’s personal accident insurance.

Beam’s e-scooters will be available to hire from selected partner locations, including Niramaya Villas & Spa and Sheraton Grand Mirage ResortPort Douglas.

Virtual parking spots will be set up at all partner locations, with riders able to ride between them.

The Beam offering will also include:

●      Beam Safe Academy: The Beam Safe Academy is Australia's first fully fledged safety program that incorporates an interactive safety quiz and a launch briefing guide for new users. Riders in Port Douglas are encouraged to complete the in-app safety quiz to receive 5 minutes of free ride time.

●      Beam Booster: A unique program designed to assist local shops, restaurants and cafes in the cities in which we operate as they strive to reinvigorate their businesses post COVID-19. Named ‘Operation Booster’, Beam’s proprietary partnership platform utilises a blend of GPS-technology, in-app notifications and partner incentives to help stimulate economic activity at the local community level.

●     Virtual docking: Beam will utilise technology and GPS to direct riders to appropriate parking spots through a combination of guidance, incentives, and disincentives.
