Australia, 16 December 2025 – As festive celebrations begin, Australians are expected to drink around 70% more during December — with many more tempted to drink and drive a vehicle than at any other time of the year. To help keep the streets safe, Australian rental e-scooter and e-bike operator Beam Mobility, is launching its annual Summer of Safety campaign, using smart technology, rider education and on-the-ground visibility to deter intoxicated riding.
The campaign features Beam’s in-app ‘Rider Check’, which riders must pass on key dates over the festive period, including Christmas and New Year’s Eve, before unlocking their e-scooter. The quick ‘cognitive reaction test’ helps identify signs of impairment — and those who fail are temporarily locked out of the service, preventing unsafe trips before they begin.

Beam’s in-app ‘Rider Check’ is designed to prompt riders to pause and think before starting a trip, while our on-ground Safety Team will be actively engaging with the community to promote responsible riding.
