Shaping the Future of Micromobility Through Education

Shaping the Future of Micromobility Through Education

In the ever-evolving landscape of micromobility, education plays a pivotal role in preparing individuals to navigate the challenges of this burgeoning industry. At Beam, we recognise the importance of nurturing local talent who can contribute to the growth and sustainability of micromobility, particularly in areas of safety and regulatory management.

Beam's Partnership with TAFE Queensland - An Investment into Future Education

As the micromobility industry continues to gain momentum, our vision extends beyond the road – we see a future where every stage of the micromobility ecosystem, from manufacturing to servicing, is staffed by trained local professionals. Investing in education becomes imperative to ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is equipped with the skills and knowledge required to address the unique demands of micromobility.

In pursuit of this vision, Beam has partnered with TAFE Queensland, Large Training Provider of the Year at the 2023 Australian Training Awards. Our key goal is to collaboratively develop a nationally recognised qualification specifically tailored for e-bike and e-scooter mechanics of the future.

Industry-Knowledge Integration and Course Development

As part of our commitment, Beam contributed industry knowledge surrounding the support and maintenance of an e-mobility fleet. Our employees actively engaged in the pilot course, enriching the learning experience with their firsthand insights gained from working in various capacities within Beam's operations.TAFE Queensland, in turn, leveraged this industry knowledge to develop additional course modules that precisely align with the industry's specific needs. This collaborative effort ensures that the education provided is not only comprehensive but also directly applicable to the dynamic landscape of micromobility.

Paving the Way for Industry-Ready Professionals

A select group of Beam employees, who serve in fleet technician and mechanical roles across our Queensland operations, were at the forefront of this pilot course. They not only brought their existing industry knowledge to the table but also acquired new skills through the course, ensuring that they remained at the cutting edge of micromobility advancements.

“At TAFE Queensland, we put a large focus on industry engagement and partnering with industry leaders to identify skills gaps and implement training needs,” says SkillsTech Acting General Manager at TAFE Queensland Stephen Gates.

Beam has helped give insight into the growing industry of e-mobility vehicles in Queensland and shown us the expectations for workers within this industry.”

Empowering Australians for the Jobs of the Future

As we shape the future of micromobility, education becomes the bridge that connects innovation with skilled professionals. This collaborative effort is a testament to our commitment to not only being a leading micromobility provider but also a catalyst for educational advancements in the industry.
