Kuala Lumpur City Hall launches Micro Mobility Sandbox

Beam Mobility Malaysia becomes implementation partner of inaugural micromobility

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 December 2022 – The Sandbox of Sustainable Micromobility and Innovation at UTMKL and Datuk Keramat area is a collaboration between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), and URBANICE Malaysia to explore sustainable mobility innovations towards a low carbon city and integration of public transport to support the first and last mile connectivity. A sandbox is a controlled live environment with the purpose to observe and study new innovations under relaxed regulations.

The project will test and study micromobility transport modes for 12 months (16 December 2022 - 16 December 2023) as a means to solve the first and last mile connectivity issues in the area. 

UTM Kuala Lumpur hosted the launch of the Sandbox of Sustainable Micromobility Integration and Innovation at UTMKL and Datuk Keramat on 16 December 2022. Beam Mobility Malaysia is honored to be chosen as the project’s implementation partner officiated by Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Haji Mahadi Bin Che Ngah in the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) of UTM, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd. Hamdan Ahmad. The programme was also attended by Dr Azmizam Abdul Rashid, the Deputy CEO of URBANICE Malaysia (an agency under Ministry of Housing & Local Government), and Mr. Justin Tiew Senn, General Manager of Beam Malaysia.

Thank you to strategic partners Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MOT), Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Malaysia Institute of Road Safety (MIROS), Prasarana (Rapid Bus & Rapid Rail), PLANMalaysia, Futurise, Bike Commute Malaysia, and the local community that make up the heartbeat of Datuk Keramat area in Kuala Lumpur.
