‍[25 Feb 2024] Bukit Bintang was filled with festive cheer this past weekend as Beam Mobility's beloved mascot "B" took to the streets to distribute hundreds of ang paos to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.The e-scooter sharing company's mascot, “B” drew big smiles from pedestrians as it strolled around the popular shopping district, offering a fun twist on the traditional Lunar New Year red packet giveaway.

Those lucky enough to receive one of the cheery green ang paos got a nice surprise when they opened it - randomized credits to be used on Beam's e-scooter service in Malaysia ranging from RM5, RM8, RM48, and RM88.

"Chinese New Year is such a vibrant and meaningful celebration in Malaysia," said Lucas Yap, Country Lead at Beam Mobility Malaysia. "We wanted to find a creative way to take part in the festivities while also giving back to the community that's welcomed us so warmly."

But the fun didn't stop there! Each ang pao also contained a unique QR code that recipients could use to refer a friend to Beam's e-scooter service. Both the referrer and referred friend would then receive an additional RM8 in Beam credits.

"Lunar New Year is all about connecting with loved ones and sharing prosperity," added Yap. "The referral program gave everyone who got an ang pao a chance to extend the prosperity to their friends and family as well."

The giveaway delighted the visitors of Bukit Bintang, creating a buzz on the streets as people came to get an ang pao and take a photo with the B mascot. For Beam, it was a fun way to bring their mission of sustainable transportation to the streets while joining in the Year of the Dragon celebrations.
