Beam Sets Footprint in Ipoh, Perak
  • Beam Mobility Malaysia secures 6-month trial permit to operate in Ipoh, Perak.
  • Aims to promote sustainable transportation and reduce traffic at the capital of Perak.

[19 February 2023] From colonial architecture to limestone temples to delicious local cuisine and the best white kopi (coffee), Beam Mobility Malaysia, the leading e-scooter sharing service provider in Malaysia, is excited to announce that it is now on the roads of Ipoh! Located in the northwestern part of Malaysia, Ipoh is a city known to attract tourists for its art and street food. After a successful partnership with the local council, Beam has been given the green light to begin a 6-month trial with Beam e-scooters aimed at providing a sustainable and convenient mode of transportation in the city for both locals and tourists.

"We are excited to bring our e-scooters to the capital city of Perak, Ipoh, and we are thrilled to see how the public will pick up on this new mode of transportation to get around the city," said Justin Tiew, General Manager at Beam Mobility Malaysia.

"We are committed to ensuring that our service is safe and reliable for all users, and we look forward to a long-term partnership with Ipoh."

In addition to providing a sustainable and convenient transportation option, Beam is also supporting the city's goal to become a Low Carbon City, Walkable City by 2030. By introducing e-scooters as a transportation alternative, Beam is helping to reduce carbon emissions and promote a cleaner environment.

We're proud to be the only e-scooter operator from the APAC region to be officially Climate Neutral Certified, and we've been that way for 3 years running. We work with Climate Neutral, an independent non-profit organization, to monitor and measure the carbon emissions of our whole company, and each year we offset that entire footprint by investing in projects that either prevent carbon from being emitted, like renewable energy, or remove carbon from the atmosphere, like planting trees.

"We are excited to partner up with such an influential company in Malaysia for mutual sustainable goals. All trips on Beams are carbon-free, contributing nothing to a city's carbon emissions," added Taty Azman, Head of Public Affairs at Beam Mobility Malaysia.

The launch of Beam in Ipoh is a positive development for both tourists and locals. With its affordable and eco-friendly transportation options, Beam is poised to revolutionize the way people explore the city. As Ipoh continues to attract more visitors, it is essential that the city provides sustainable transportation options, and the partnership between Beam and the local council is an excellent step in this direction.
