[7 June 2023] Beam Mobility Malaysia, a leading provider of shared e-scooters, announced the launch of its services at University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) at the start of the month, marking the university as the company's largest operating area in East Malaysia.

The introduction of Beam's e-scooters at UMS will provide a convenient and eco-friendly transportation solution for students, faculty members, and visitors within the campus. With the company's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable mobility, this move aligns with the university's and state government’s vision of fostering a greener and more accessible campus environment.

With an estimated 700+ visitors daily from these countries, the availability of Beam's e-scooters will enhance their exploration of the university campus and its vicinity.

"We are thrilled to be of service to University Malaysia Sabah and supporting their carbon-free campus initiative!" said Justin Tiew, General Manager of Beam Mobility Malaysia.

The expansion aims to serve the university's community while catering to the tourists visiting the campus, largely from Japan, Korea, and China.

"By offering our convenient and sustainable e- scooters, we aim to provide a seamless first and last-mile solution for the university's community while also catering to the needs of tourists exploring the beautiful city of Kota Kinabalu." said Justin Tiew, General Manager of Beam Mobility Malaysia.

Regular maintenance and safety checks on the fleet of e-scooters is crucial to ensure that they are accessible to everyone.  To ensure this, Beam has hired marshals and rangers on campus to maintain the accessibility of the e-scooters and the fleet’s health. This not only ensures the availability of e-scooters but also creates valuable job opportunities for students, as part of our initiative to support the local community.

The launch of Beam Mobility's services at UMS represents a significant milestone for the company as it continues to expand its presence in East Malaysia and support sustainable transportation options. By providing efficient and eco-friendly mobility solutions, Beam aims to create a positive impact on the environment and enhance the overall transportation experience for students and tourists alike.
