Beam introduces Australia-first shared seated e-scooters to Brisbane
  • Beam will bring 200 shared seated e-scooters to Brisbane
  • Seated e-scooters will join Beam’s existing fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes

[21 July 2022] Australia’s largest micromobility company Beam will bring seated e-scooters to Brisbane in an Australian-first, with 200 shared seated e-scooters to be deployed across the city this weekend.

Designed with the same safety features as Beam’s ‘L-shaped’ standing e-scooters, including triple brakes, phone holders, a bluetooth helmet lock and dual front-suspension, they offer a practical choice to those who find standing e-scooters and pedal assist e-bikes challenging for use, or those travelling longer distances.

The seated e-scooters can be rented through Beam’s app-based service, featuring the same affordable rates as Beam’s e-bikes and e-scooters.

Beam’s Queensland Operations Manager Andrew Dodd said,

“Brisbane has been a leader in Australia’s adoption of micromobility, and we’re excited to be bringing another Australia-first to the city.”
“As Australia’s largest shared micromobility operator, we’re committed to constantly innovating and bringing the latest technology and hardware to our operations across the country.
“Brisbane has experienced great success with shared micromobility, which has become a preferred means of transportation and seen over 7 million kilometres ridden on Beams across the city.
“However, they have not been accessible to all members of the local community, which is a gap we are looking to address with the launch of seated e-scooters.
“The seated e-scooters provide an accessible option for those who prefer a more comfortable seated position for longer journeys, and those not comfortable with the pedal assist e-bikes.
“Our goal is to bring safe, sustainable and equitable transportation to as many residents as possible across Brisbane, and we look forward to seeing the Brisbane community embrace Brisbane’s newest mode of transportation.”
